riverbend billow

Originally built in 1977 as a marketplace for garment and textile wholesalers, 350 Orleans was a major hub for the apparel and clothing industry before becoming a mixed use complex. Through abstraction, this work evokes the textures, folds, and rhythmic movement associated with fabrics, translating their material qualities into color, shape, and layered form. Interwoven with these references is the outline of the Chicago River as it flows past this location, anchoring the work to the geography that has long shaped the site’s identity. Combining these elements, the mural bridges the building’s historical function with its contemporary context, offering a visual narrative that honors both place and memory.
