Located at 1200 N. Lakeshore Drive, this mural is inspired by the shifting atmosphere of Lake Michigan. The forms and palette draw from the wide spectrum of colors that appear along the horizon and from the tones reflected on the lake’s surface at different times of day and throughout the seasons. These changing conditions range from bright, muted, turbulent, or calm, and inform the movement and structure of the composition. Together, they translate the lake’s character into an abstract language that reflects its presence as both a natural force and a defining feature of Chicago.
